Title & Purpose

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble:

for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand, Joel 2:1.

Women Bishops??

You would wonder where he got this impression from!

In case he doesn't know this is what God has to say on the matter:

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence
For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil, 1 Timothy 2:11 - 3:7
.

It's extremely hard to be the husband of one wife and be a women!

If Cameron gets his way it'll soon be a lot easier for a woman to be the 'husband' of one wife!

Does the ordination of women fall under the category of apostasy?

Surely its wrong, unscriptural and harmful to church and family to have women bishops [or women leading in teaching in general], but apostasy?

I think that if Cameron gets his way he will outlaw the use of the word 'husband' altogether and it will be something along the lines of 'Partner 1' & 'Partner 2' or 'Parent 1' & 'Parent 2'

Yes, I believe it is apostasy. Apostasy means 'a falling away' cf 2 Thess 2:3: Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; where the Greek word appears. The Church of England has long ago become apostate in its belief and practices. It no better than Romanism!

Brian good to see people coming and interacting with you.

However you said lets see what God said and in your list not one Christ said" " or Jesus said " " or God said " "

all we have is the opinions of those after Christ and yet no where that I can find, maybe you can point me to it, where Christ authorized people to speak on his behalf, as though they were him, after he left the earth

but others can go to these opinions and find Galatians 3:28
King James Version (KJV)
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

and what is the point in a husband being in authority over his wife if he is not responsible for actions of his wife. I would have assumed that he would be, but as we have learned from our first family here in N.Ireland a Christian family where the husband is not responsible for the actions of the wife in submission.

All of the Scriptures are the Word of God. The Lord Jesus told the disciples that He would have other things to say unto them: I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come, John 16:12,13.

All the Scriptures carry a 'Thus saith the Lord. They have all come by inspiration of God, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16.

The writings of Paul and the other apostles and prophets in the Old Testament are not merely the opinions of these men. They are the infallible words of God through these men, which are to viewed as commandments of God: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour, 2 Peter 3:2; Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come, 1 Corinthians 16:1,2.

Galatians 3:28 has nothing to do with the role of women in the church no more than it has to do with the role of Jews and Gentiles, the bond or the free. This text has to do with the standing of a person in Christ. This is the whole context of the book of Galatians. Cf. Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

As to a person's salvation ie. our acceptance in Christ, there is no difference, all are one in Christ Jesus. Whether we be Jews or Gentiles, males or females, bond or free we are all accepted before God on the same basis - by saving faith alone in the blood atonement of Jesus Christ. There is no other way of acceptance before God.

The grounds of our acceptance before God has nothing to do with the different positions that men and women hold within the administration of Christ's church on earth. A simple reading of the two portions [1 Timothy 2:11-3:7 & Galatians 3:1-29]

A husband is responsible before God for the actions of his wife! You need to explain a little more what you mean about the rest of the last paragraph!
