Marie Stopes Abortion Clinic in Belfast - Trading in the murder of the Unborn!

It is a very sad day in Northern Ireland when an abortion clinic opens. Today a Marie Stopes Clinic opens on Great Victoria Street in Belfast. The centre is to be managed by Dawn Purvis, a former MLA, who lost her seat at the last Assembly Election.

This clinic claims that it will act within the law regarding abortion in Northern Ireland, which is much stricter than in the rest of the United Kingdom. The 1967 Abortion Act has never been extended to Northern Ireland.

The opening of this clinic surely raises the question: why would someone go along to this establishment and pay £450 for a legal abortion when they can have the same legal abortion on the National Health Service at no financial cost to themselves?

Statistics for the Health Service indicate that there are, on average, only 43 lawful terminations in Northern Ireland per year. Why would a clinic like this come into operation for 43 cases? One obvious conclusion is that this abortion clinic will push the boundaries of what is legal. Their trade is the murder of the unborn!

This clinic's ultimate aim is to have abortion available on demand in Northern Ireland. In response to a question tabled by a House of Lord's peer [Lord Alton of Liverpool] it was recently revealed that 6.4 million unborn children have been aborted in England and Wales between 1968 and 2011. Just 0.376% of these abortions were carried out to save the life of the mother. This is horrendous!

What choice did the unborn have in the vast, vast majority of these cases? None whatsoever. Pro-choice is pro-murder! It is to be in favour of the slaughter of the innocent. King Herod is infamous in the Bible for his slaughter of the innocent children in Bethlehem at the time of Christ's incarnation. These traders in the murder of the unborn are modern day Herods.

I cannot believe I am reading this.

Has Rev McClung needed to visit the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald for instance. I got a call from the Blood analysis centre in Belfast the evening after a routine blood test. I am an hematology outpatient having a blood condition, have been in a coma twice with it. The call told me to go to the outpatients at the Ulster Hospital as soon as possible as there was a danger of me developing a blood clot. Why would one pay when there is a free service? I sat for over 8 hours at the Ulster hospital and that was just to see a triage nurse and a further 2 hours before I was seen by a doctor. Why would anybody pay?

Rev McClung have you any idea that state of Shambles that is in our NHS hospitals since MrPoots has taken over as Health minister?

Why would anybody pay? If I could afford medical insurance, I would pay instead of sitting for hours @ NHS.

You refer to the Marie Stopes centre as an abortion clinic. It is not advertised as such. What it says is Marie Stopes Northern Ireland operates a world class sexual and reproductive health centre in Belfast, offering the people of Northern Ireland a wide range of family planning and sexual health services under one roof.

Now here's the thing, have you made inquiries to find out at what hospitals under the NHS these 43 terminations occurred and in fairness to Marie Stopes will you name these also as Abortion Clinics?

As someone opposed to abortion I imagine you are interested to know where and when these were carried out and if any laws have been broken or bent. Which would be a more pertinent question than asking why anyone would want to pay?

I was hoping to find something on your blog ref these attacks on our police by protestants over the head of a flag. I have also checked the blog Government and Morals Committee (Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster) but there is nothing on there either. Doesn't the free Presbyterian Church see anything 'morally wrong' with it?
Do not these people need some moral and spiritual guidance to show them the error of their ways?

My points stand I believe.

This clinic is only able to carry out medical, not surgical, abortions and only up to 9 weeks gestation. Therefore where a mother's life is in danger and she needs a surgical abortion to preserve her life, or where a woman is more than 9 weeks pregnant, they are unable to help and would have to send someone to the NHS, whether they has paid their money or not. That's if they want to operate within the law.

Who checks whether they do? We know that Marie Stopes Int. supports wider access to abortion and wants that wider access available in Northern Ireland. We know of their desire that women who want an abortion for other reasons than a mother's health being in danger should have access to such in Northern Ireland. We know they complain about women going to the mainland for such abortions.

Marie Stopes International have indeed traded in the murder of the unborn and they want to bring this practice to Northern Ireland.

As to enquiring about reasons for abortion I have done so. I contacted a MLA back in May 2011 and asked them about figures relating to 'Termination of Pregnancy' or 'ToPs' as the jargon is in the NHS. From 2005-2010 394 abortions were performed by the Health Trusts in Northern Ireland. The interesting and concerning point to notice is that the Health Trusts have not been recording the reasons why these abortions have been taking place. You would wonder why?

We have no way of knowing if each abortion was legal. Anecdotal evidence from some who work at the front line suggests that a blind eye is turned at times to whether there is proper reason for the termination. This is why I contacted the MLA and asked him about these issues.

Thankfully in recent times a change has been ordered and a reason for a 'ToP' must be recorded. I don't know whether that was because of the subsequent questions that were asked or not.
