Title & Purpose

Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble:

for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand, Joel 2:1.

200,000+ signatures in 3 weeks in support of traditional marriage

The petition in support of traditional marriage organised by the Coalition for Marriage has reached 200,000+ signatures in 3 weeks. The aim is to have 250,000+ signatures by Easter.

Today there are adverts in some national newspapers such as Daily Telegraph & Daily Express to publicise the national petition for marriage. About 100 wedding pictures will surround the advertisement, showing that the petition represents ordinary people who are positive about marriage, and care about its place in our society.

If you have not already done so please sign the Petition in support of traditional marriage - here

As of 21 april this figure has grown to 455,979.

This is still 25million short of 50/50 of the uk adult population

another 27million signatures cannot be argued with but only half a million it is still a minority opinion of UK population.

If you were to compare like with like then there are a whole lot of other petitions, that have not received anywhere near this number of signatures, which would then have to be classed as even more minority views. See http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions

According to your analysis these would be very minor issues yet the present Government has a policy that if a petition on the Downing St website reaches 100,000 signatures it should be debated in Parliament.

It is commonly accepted that for everyone who signs a petition there are so many more who are supportive of that position.

A number of broadcasting outlets operate a policy like with respect to consumer comments. For every letter/email received there are so many more generally of the same opinion.

Are there any issues that have received a larger number of signatures on a petition recently?
