Free Presbyterian Open Air Witness against Belfast Pride

Today the annual open air witness against the iniquitous Belfast Pride took place.

Rev Gordon Dane, moderator elect of the Presbytery, preached from 1 Corinthians 6:9-11: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? "Why did no one save little Elsie?" Pandering to Sodomy is why!

This question is posed by the Daily Mail in the light of the conviction of Matthew Scully-Hicks for the murder of his adopted daughter. The headline in the Daily Mail reads:

Why did no one save little Elsie? Social services visited gay father who murdered his adopted daughter FIFTEEN times but failed to intervene - even after she had broken her leg and 'fallen down the stairs'

Social services visited a gay father who murdered his adopted 18-month-old daughter 15 times but still raised no concerns - despite finding out she had broken her leg and had 'fallen down the stairs'.

• Matthew Scully-Hicks, 31, shook Elsie Scully-Hicks and threw her down on floor
• He denied murdering her but was found guilty by a jury after a four week trial
• Murder came just two weeks after he adopted her with his husband Craig, 36
• Social services face an investigation to see if they missed chances to save her
• Staff members visited the couple fifteen times and still raised no concerns
• Before her death she had previously suffered a broken leg and mystery bruises
• Prosecutors have said medical evidence was crucial in Scully-Hicks' conviction 

The is one simple answer. No one stepped in to save this little girl because of the pandering to sodomy that goes on in this nation. To have stepped in would have brought down a torrent of disapproval and the usual charges of being homophobic when anyone is perceived to have acted against those who chose to follow this way of life. This is why there were 15 visits by social workers and a failure to step in. They evidently knew there was a problem but were unwilling to step in and remove the child.

Fighting Against Blasphemy

The Government and Morals Committee of Presbytery have been engaged in on-going correspondence with government departments and other bodies on the moral issues of the day.

In November last year a play was staged as part of the Outburst Queer Arts festival in Belfast called, “The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven" The preview of the play on the Outburst festival website described how in the play there was a "revolutionary queer ritual in which bread is shared, wine is drunk and familiar stories are re-imagined by a transgender Jesus."

The Bible reveals the Lord Jesus Christ as the King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s and the eternal Son of God. The title “Queen of Heaven” is only used in the Bible in the book of Jeremiah to describe a heathen goddess whom God condemned. Furthermore the Bible teaches that homosexuality and transgender is sin. The play was a blasphemy against the Saviour whom we love and serve.

The Government and Morals Committee contacted various government departments and bodies who were listed as having sponsored this play. Among those contacted were, the Arts Council, which distributes funds from the National Lottery, Belfast City Council, The Department of Culture Arts and Leisure, The Department of Social Development and the Public Health Agency.........

A new low in blasphemy!

A play which portrays our Lord Jesus Christ as a transsexual is being staged in Belfast, as part of a sodomite promoting Arts Festival.  The play is entitled: The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven.

What makes this more grievous is that this festival is being publicly-funded.

The Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster released a statement outlining their opposition to this new low in blasphemy. Although it seems not to have been picked up by the local press. The statement reads:

Dear sir,
Your paper on Monday contained the details of a theatre production. This production is a blatant blasphemous attack on the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ and deeply offensive to the Christian community.

Blasphemy is defined as the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God.

Justice Minister to press ahead with change to abortion law despite overwhelming opposition

David Ford MLA, Justice Minister in the Northern Ireland Executive government, has announced that he is pressing ahead with a change in the abortion law in Northern Ireland. This change will allow doctors to abort an unborn child which has been diagnosed with 'fatal foetal abnormality'.

Mr Ford has held back from seeking to legislate for abortion in cases of rape.

This announcement was made following a public consultation on proposed reforms to Northern Ireland's abortion law. It transpires that the overwhelming view expressed in the responses, received during the consultation period, were against any change in the law.

Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible justifies drinking alcohol, Part 2

This Blog post is a continuation of a previous article on The Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible justifying drinking booze.

The statement in 'The Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible' notes, attached to Genesis 9, reads: Beware of the danger of drunkenness. We personally need to be very careful with strong drink. It is a stumbling block to many. Alcoholic drink is not wrong per se, but the Bible does clearly teach that drunkenness makes one unaware of what is happening. We must not misuse our bodies. Drunkennes is often linked to immorality and unseemly behavior. Therefore, respect the civil laws limiting alcohol consumption and guard yourself against ever becomimg intoxicated. [Emphasis mine]

In reading the Study Bible's commentary, in this place, the following points need commenting upon: 
1. "Alcoholic drink is not wrong per se".
2. Readers are to find out and then respect the local civil laws limiting alcohol consumption.
3. A Christian is only to be on their guard against being caught breaking the law on alcohol consumption and drunkenness.
4. This view of alcohol is a suitable subject for teaching at family worship, where children are present.

Filthy Dreamers!!!

The subject of sex education for children, even in primary school has resurfaced again in recent days.

A committee of MPs have called for compulsory teaching of the subject in all primary and secondary schools, with sufficient curriculum time devoted to the subject and specialist training for teachers. The Westminster Education Committee chairman Mr Graham Stuart MP said: young people have a right to information that will keep them safe. As if this is all that is entailed in this subject.

A former school principal in Northern Ireland has called on the Stormont Executive to consider introducing sex and relationship education as a compulsory subject, for those even in primary schools.

The Bible has an apt description for those who would seek to foist such folly upon children, even young children in primary school. The Book of Jude v8 speaks of 'filthy dreamers'. They want to corrupt the minds of children by encouraging an inordinate interest in that which is best left alone altogether or to older years and primarily to parents. It is another example of the liberal mindset that is abroad seeking to foist their immoral ideological standards upon the rest of society, even children.

Response to Proposed Abortion Change

The Department of Justice in the Northern Ireland Assembly is proposing to change the abortion law in Northern Ireland. Thankfully at present, the law here is different to that in mainland United Kingdom, where abortion on demand has been the creed since 1967.

There are two areas where changes are being considered that have been put out to consultation in Northern Ireland. The first of these changes is in regard to what the consultation document calls 'Lethal foetal abnormality'. The Department of Justice is proposing the give the right to parents and doctors to terminate a pregnancy where this is believed to be the condition of the unborn child.

It's Worth Remembering - Sin has no Rights!

The Office of First Minister and Deputy First Minister [OFMDFM] have announced a Sexual Orientation Strategy consultation which is set to begin next week and is designed to run for 12 weeks. For further information see here

It is worth stating that according to the Word of God sin has no rights. None at all! In fact the opposite is the case. Sin is to be punished and at times the perpetrator to be shunned and avoided. Sadly, this rule is applied in an ever diminishing number of cases. Even murderers are now welcomed into government with open arms in our society!

There are basic human rights that are common to all mankind. For example, the right to life; the right to fair and equal treatment before the law; the right of religious freedom and expression; innocent until proven guilty is another fundamental right; there are civil freedoms which are basic rights. These are just a few of the most obvious 'rights' that a human being is entitled to.

Sad but not surprising!

According to recent reports there has been a huge increase in the number of town and city centres, city districts and neighbourhoods officially classed as being blighted by alcohol related anti-social behaviour since the alcohol licensing laws were relaxed in 2005.

Official figures show number of alcohol trouble hotspots has risen 150 per cent since 2007. It was the last Labour Government that brought in 24 hour drinking. The problem is so great that a special name has been given to these areas. They are now called 'Cumulative Impact Zones'. An euphemism indeed, for town centres or city districts blighted by alcohol fuelled thuggish behaviour!

It has been reported that at the end of March 2007, when the licensing laws had been relaxed for just over a year, there were only 71 of these zones in the United Kingdom. Home Office officials now say that this figure has soared to 175.

The increased anti-social behaviour in these areas ranges from fighting and litter to drug dealing, pick pocketing and street robbery. Many of the problem areas are now found in small and previously quiet towns which used to have very few crimes of this nature. The situation in these areas is considered so bad councils have special powers to turn down planning applications for yet more bars to protect the public from further disorder.

Stormont Assembly to vote on opening the door to Sunday Racing

Today in the Northern Ireland Assembly a Bill will be debated that will change the legislation governing motorcycle road racing in Northern Ireland.

The North West 200, one of the premier motorcycle road races held in Northern Ireland, was cancelled in 2013 due to torrential rain. This was the second occasion in three years that the North West 200 had to be cancelled due to bad weather. In addition, the Dundrod 150 motorcycle race in August 2013 and the Ulster Grand Prix in 2008 were also cancelled in similar circumstances.

It is not presently possible to re-schedule these races because the existing legislation does not permit that flexibility. Consequently alternative dates or times from those quoted in the road closing order made to facilitate the event can not be used.

The Department for Regional Development is proposing to insert one new clause into the existing legislation. This new clause will amend Article 3 of the Road Races (NI) Order to: provide that not more than two contingency days may be specified in a road closing order and that a contingency day must be one of the two days falling immediately before or immediately after a day specified in a road closing order.

1859 Revival series - No 1: The Need of Revival

This is an outline of a series of sermons preached, one per month, January - June 2009, marking the 150th Anniversary of the 1859 Revival in Ulster

Psalm 119:126: It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law. 
Virtually everyone is aware that the year 2009 marks the 150th Anniversary of the 1859 Revival. That mighty outpouring of the Spirit of God began in Kells, Co Antrim and spread out over most of Ulster. The influence of the revival was also felt further afield to greater and lesser degrees.

Many of us, if not all of us, have heard of the prayer meetings that were commenced in the school house in Kells where the four men prayed. The names of these men are James McQuilken, Jeremiah Meneely, Robert Carlisle and John Wallace. Encouraged by Rev J.H. Moore, minister of the nearby Presbyterian church, these four young converts began to meet on a weekly basis for prayer and Bible study. They met in the old national schoolhouse.

Scriptural Observations on the issue of Abortion

Abortion is the murder of the unborn plain and simple! The Scriptures make the following observations about the unborn:

I. The unborn child is described as a person in Scripture
The unborn child is not somehow less a person because it is yet unborn. That is what secular society seeks to say. They use terms about an unborn child that dehumanises and depersonalises the unborn and portrays them as a mere form of matter. They never talk about the unborn child in human terms. It is called an 'embryo' or 'foetus'. It might not be deliberately done by all but that is part of the reasoning behind it with many pro-abortion campaigners. This type of terminology gives the impression that somehow the unborn child is not to be looked upon as a full human being that has not yet reached the stage of being a person. But in God’s Word that is not how the unborn child is considered.

"Without natural affection"

It has been reported that the Crown Prosecution Service [CPS] have decided that it is not in the 'public interest' to bring criminal charges against doctors who were caught out performing 'gender abortions'.

Doctors who agreed to arrange illegal abortions, based on the sex of an unborn baby, have been told by the CPS that they will not now face criminal charges, despite prosecutors admitting that there is sufficient evidence to take them to court.  The CPS has been accused of failing to uphold the law regarding this failure to prosecute the two doctors who were exposed in an undercover Daily Telegraph investigation, see here.

Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary in the Westminster government has raised the case with the Attorney General.

A foretaste of the consequences of legalising Sodomite marriage #1

In what can be seen as a foretaste of what will eventually come to the United Kingdom, an American bakery is being sued for refusing to bake a 'wedding cake' to celebrate a sodomite marriage. Read the details here.

At stake is the conflict between the rights of freedom of conscience and the vociferous lobby for 'sodomite marriage'. No doubt they could have gone elsewhere and had their cake baked but they prey on those who have principles and they seek to close down all opposition to their agenda.

This is what will happen in the United Kingdom if, as it seems likely, the present government gets their way and implements a similar law in England and Wales.
