Mr Smith's employer, Trafford Housing Trust, near Manchester, took disciplnary action against him for bringing the Trust into disrepute, alleging that his comments amounted to "gross misconduct".
However, today, Mr Justice Briggs, said that Trafford Housing Trust had no right to demote Mr Smith over his Facebook comments, and ruled that the Trust had breached the terms of his contract. It emerged in court that Trafford Housing Trust was worried it could lose a gay rights charter award unless it took action against Mr Smith.
We rejoice in this victory for free speech and religious liberty. There is an intolerance, verging on the hysterical, which inflames the gay lobby and their supporters in society directed towards any who oppose the advancing of their agenda. It is the same spirit as that manifested by the men of sodom when they threatened to break down Lot's door if he didn't bring out the men who were visiting in his home, And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door, Genesis 19:9.
The Saviour warned that the time will come in which ungodly men will put the righteous to death thinking that they are doing God a favour, They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service, John 16:2.
