The 1967 Abortion Act came into effect on 27 April 1968. Since then, over seven million unborn children have been killed through registered abortion in Britain. This figure does not include abortions which may be caused by birth control drugs and devices. Nor does it include the number of embryos destroyed or discarded during and after in-vitro fertilisation (IVF).

ReplyDeleteand more alarming is when we read of people living the christian lifestyle who had an abortion and then went on to murder their partners. Do people living the Christian lifestyle really believe that (1 Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not) gives licence for all sorts of wickedness?

ReplyDeleteNo Christian has licence to break God's Moral Law as summarised in the 10 commandments in any circumstances. There are no excuses.
The verse you quote must not be taken out of context. This verse must be qualified by what Paul has already said in the previous chapter, 1 Cor 9:20,21:
And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
Paul did not let personal prejudices and personal views impede his preaching of the Gospel and his desire to win souls for Jesus Christ. This is the teaching of 1 Cor 10:23.
However, at no time did this mean that he acted outside the Moral Law of God. He was always under the Moral law. The Moral Law says thou shalt not kill/murder, Ex 20:12: Matt 19:18.
Thankfully where there is repentance there can be forgiveness even for the sin of murder. Paul is the living embodiment of that. He was guilty of murder yet the Lord saved him.
